DESCRIPTION:<p>They are young, hip, and smart.&nbsp; Their new album just won an award.&nbsp; They were chosen and mentored here in Boulder by one of the worlds top string quartets, Takacs.&nbsp; Oh yeah, and they play Led Zeppelin.<br><br>They are the hippest new string quartet in the country and they are performing in Louisvilles intimate 100-seat Arts Center on Friday, February 15 at 7:30 pm. It's a perfect Valentine's Weekend Date Night!&nbsp;&nbsp;<br><br>Andrew Giordano, Joshua Ulrich, Andrew Krimm, and Zachary Reaves chose the name Altius from the Olympic motto Citius, Altius, Fortius, which means Faster, Higher, Stronger.&nbsp; It is a fitting name for men who spend much of their free time enjoying the outdoors when they arent breaking down the conventions of their musical genre.<br><br>Their new album Dress Code is a case in point.&nbsp; The playlist includes Haydn's 'String Quartet in C major, Op. 74, No. 1' and an arrangement by cellist Zachary Reaves that blends or perhaps better said, mashes up, two Led Zeppelin pieces, Stairway to Heaven and Kashmir.&nbsp; &nbsp;The playlist gets back to Haydn and then interjects another Reaves mash up of Dave Brubecks Take Five with Michael Jacksons Beat It.&nbsp; Are you getting dizzy yet?<br><br>A recent review in the online Review Graveyard put it bluntly.&nbsp; Reading through the track listing for this album I couldn't help thinking This just isn't going to work. Sure, it sounds novel, but . . . That's just crazy.<br><br>The review goes on to say, But, it does work!
