In addition to protecting wildlife habitat and providing opportunities for exercise, open space preserves our aesthetic and cultural landscape for future generations to enjoy. With this fact in mind, the City of Louisville Open Space Division launched its plein air painting program in 2020 to engage residents’ artistic abilities in the celebration of natural lands. These programs, which occur at four different Open Space sites every year, bring together local artists and hobbyists to capture the beauty of Louisville’s protected landscape. Anyone may attend, regardless of preferred medium or experience, and registration is free. Attendees build community with like-minded lovers of Open Space and have the opportunity to show their work at an annual exhibit.
